#PurpleLipsChallenge

As part of the celebrations for International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month which calls for gender inclusion in all spheres of life, Avon HMO has launched the #PurpleLipsChallenge to empower disadvantaged young girls in schools across Nigeria with free sanitary kits.

According to the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), one in ten girls in Sub-Saharan Africa miss school during their menstrual cycle. By some estimates, this equals as much as 20% of a given school year. If girls are missing from classrooms while they’re on their menstrual period, then that deprives them of getting a quality education which will in turn limit their capacity to actively contribute to society in the long run.

Through the #PurpleLipsChallenge, Avon HMO seeks to play a part in changing the narrative by encouraging women to post a picture of themselves on social media wearing purple lipstick. For every picture posted from March 8th – 31st 2024, Avon HMO will be empowering a schoolgirl with free sanitary kits.

This way, more girls will be able to stay in school all through the school year, thus growing to be just as educated as their male counterparts. An empowered girl is an empowered woman and when women and men both have the right tools they can both play active roles in improving society to the best of their abilities.

How to Participate

  • Post a picture of yourself wearing purple lipstick on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram.
  • Use #PurpleLipsChallenge and #InspireInclusion in your caption, then tag and follow @avonhmo!
  • For each post, a disadvantaged girl in school will receive a free pack of sanitary products.

The more entries, the more girls Avon HMO will empower so join them in touching a life today!
